Climate Equity Lab supports leaders & collaboration at the intersection of climate, gender equality and care

Are you a practitioner, artist, storyteller, organiser, activist rooted in your community and working at the intersection of gender and climate change in India or Indonesia? The Climate Equity Lab is a 9 month programme designed to equip intergenerational leaders with the tools, knowledge and skills to co-build just and equitable climate and energy transitions with their communities.

Application deadline May 31st 2026

What is the Climate Equity Lab?

The Climate Equity Lab is a new initiative built to meet the urgency of climate action, energy transition and security while meeting people where they are, with equity, justice and care.

We believe this work is not only about getting emissions down as quickly as possible, but about building the new systems, structures and cultures that grow power from the ground up and support the emergence of something genuinely new.

We take a holistic view of the problems communities face, seeing the deep interconnections between climate, energy, gender and the broken systems of the past like patriarchy, capitalism, white supremacy and colonialism that were created by and continue to serve the global north.

Participants will collaborate cross-regionally, co-creating initiatives that respond to the lived reality and needs of their communities while actively challenging these systems. This is a programme for those ready to forge a new path, one built from the bottom up, grounded in equity, justice and care.

Who should apply?

The Climate Equity Lab prioritises women and gender diverse individuals from India and Indonesia who are deeply rooted in their communities and movements.

We are looking for people who are currently working with or within community based organisations, collectives or movements particularly those working directly with grassroots or frontline communities. This includes people active in climate, environment, gender equity, feminist, workers and labour, or LGBTQI+ spaces.

Strong candidates will already be working at the intersection of climate and gender equity, or have a clear intention to develop their work in this direction. We welcome applicants who are part of organisations, movements or collectives at the grassroots level and are ready to collaborate, learn and build across regions.

As this programme brings together participants from India and Indonesia, proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

This programme asks for your full presence and commitment across all phases and a readiness to bring what you learn back to your team and community. The Climate Equity Lab is immersive and experiential by design: it draws on reflection, relational learning and personal inquiry as pathways to growth. Participants who thrive here are those who come with curiosity, openness and a genuine willingness to look inward as well as outward.

Climate Equity Lab will give you:

  • Deeper self-knowledge as a leader. Understanding how you show up, how you move others, and how to navigate complexity with clarity and care.
  • New capacities to organise, collaborate and build power collectively within your team and community.
  • Sharper tools to strategise, advocate  and build narratives for just and equitable climate and energy transitions that also advance gender equality.
  • Lasting relationships with a cross-regional network of peers to think together, challenge each other and build solidarity across movements.
  • Space to develop and test initiatives rooted in your community’s needs and grounded in equity and justice.
